Ja Morant has been in the eye of the storm for the past few weeks. The point guard has time and again faced scrutiny for his off-court misconduct. Morant was suspended after a video emerged on Instagram, which had the star flaunting a firearm. This incident follows a previous eight-game suspension he received for a similar action at a Denver nightclub.

Numerous NBA figures and public personalities have given their takes on the Grizzlies’ centerpiece’s questionable behavior. Notably, a stand-up comedian has recently shared his thoughts on the Morant debacle

The comedian further added, “I just think that like the NBA players start to disassociate the money they are making from their behavior and I think that’s the biggest issue right there.

Schulz, who has over three million followers on Instagram and Twitter combined, commented on the perceived sense of entitlement among NBA players due to their lucrative and secure careers. In addition to this, he contrasted this with the reality faced by comedians.

The American comic highlighted that if a comedian were to have a series of poor performances, their demand and opportunities would significantly diminish, “he makes half a million dollars every two weeks whether the team wins or loses. If we suck a bunch of weeks in a row like our numbers take a hit, and our potential money in the future take a hit.”

Morant’s actions may affect his NBA earnings

Schulz pointed out that if Morant’s salary were contingent on the team’s success in winning a championship, he would be less likely to find himself entangled in off-court issues. Ja Morant, the highest-earning player in the history of the Memphis Grizzlies, signed a substantial contract worth $194 million over five years. As part of his contract, Morant had the potential to earn an additional $39 million bonus if he were selected for any All-NBA team.

Demonstrating exceptional skills on the court, Morant performed like a superstar. He maintained an impressive average of 26 points, 6 rebounds, and 8 assists. Unfortunately, his off-court misconducts overshadowed his diligent efforts on the court, leading to his exclusion from any All-NBA team selections.
