After a Game 1 loss, the New York Knicks pulled off a great comeback to even the series. Madison Square Garden saw a Jimmy Butler-less Miami Heat nearly beat the home side in Game 2. However, Jalen Brunson, the former Dallas Mavericks star, tuned into some of his best basketball to turn the game around in crunch time. Similar to the first fixture, MSG was a building with immense star power. Some old faces and many celebrities came to watch the Knicks launch a fightback in the series.

With the series now level at 1-1, Game 3 will be played in Miami. Despite the loss, the Heat won’t be too disappointed as they stayed close throughout the game without Jimmy Butler.

It was a typical New York basketball evening. Another postseason battle that went down to the wire. This time the Knicks got an early blessing. Jimmy Butler, who led Miami to a Game 1 win, couldn’t play due to an ankle injury. Without Butler, they lacked a closer. Luckily for New York, they had Brunson, who has been at the helm of such situations many times this year. He and Josh Hart hit the big shots to turn the game around as the Knicks won 111-105.

The Game 1 upset didn’t stop MSG to fill up with stars. For a second straight game, New York Jets’ newest signing Aaron Rodgers was at the game. Former Knicks stars Carmelo Anthony and Amar’e Stoudemire also came through. Tennis legend, Roger Federer and his wife, Mirka, had the crowd going wild as well.

Brunson scored a game-high 30 points to go with 5 rebounds and 2 assists. New York’s All-Star forward Julius Randle also returned and didn’t sway from his habit of doing well against the Heat. The former Laker had a double-double with 25 points and 12 rebounds on his return. RJ Barrett also had a significant contribution to the win with 24 points.

The Heat kept their composure for the most part of the night on the back of Caleb Martin’s 22 points, who used his opportunity to start to the fullest. While the Knicks have evened the series, without Butler, it wasn’t the most ideal night. However, all that matters is they shared the series at home. Now it’s up to Bruson and Co to beat the Miami Heat on the road. Their task won’t be made easy as Butler is most likely to be fit for action soon.
