Nets News: Kyrie Irving to Sit Out For the Rest of the Season

Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving is set to miss the remainder of the season owing to a shoulder injury.
Moving to the Nets in the preseason, Irving had his season plagued with injuries. Irving suffered a shoulder injury in November. The injury saw him miss 25 games on the trot. 10 days into the new year, Irving returned from his injury. However, he did not play for long before he aggravated his shoulder injury.
Earlier this week, Nets’ coach Sean Marks announced that Irving would be out indefinitely owing to his shoulder injury. Marks now tells that the Irving will have to undergo a shoulder surgery that will keep him out for the season.

Brooklyn Nets without both their All-Star signings, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant
Prior to the start of the 2019/20 season, the Nets strengthened their line up with the addition of two All-Stars- Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. Durant had already suffered a major injury and the Nets were getting ready for a season without him. But not long into the season, Irving suffered an injury that kept him out for almost two months. His comeback in January did not last long as he is now set to miss the remainder of the season.

The loss of Irving could have an effect on their season. The Nets are currently seventh in the Eastern Conference with a win-loss record of 25-29. In the absence of Irving this season, the likes of Spencer Dinwiddie have stepped up.

Currently occupying a playoff spot, the Nets will have to keep up their performance to ensure that they feature in the postseason. However, without their All-Star duo, very few would expect them to compete deep into the season.
