Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry gets closer to his return from injury as he has been cleared for contact.
For the first time since suffering a hand injury on October 30, Curry has been reported to be cleared for contact practice as he was involved in the Warriors practice session on Saturday. After the session, Curry said that he was eyeing a return on March 1 after a challenging rehabilitation process.
“It’s always been March 1,” Curry said as per ESPN. “But that for me mostly is just to give you a target. You have to have something to work towards in the rehab process because that gives you a barometer for each week, what you’re building towards. Like I’ve always said, I haven’t had any setbacks along the way, this has been a very long, strenuous rehab process, and it’s something I haven’t been through before, so it’s nice that I’m getting that type of response with every new challenge that I kind of go after.”

The season might be a foregone conclusion but the Warriors need Stephen Curry to return this season
With injuries to their stars Curry and Klay Thompson, the Warriors are experiencing a dismal 2019/20 season. They have won just 12 games after playing 55 games in the season. Their 0.214 record is the worst in the league.
The Warriors do not have much to look forward to this season and will just want this to end as soon as possible. Under such circumstances, many believe Curry might be better of coming back in next season.

On the contrary, Curry’s return this season will elevate the team’s morale. In a team that has seen quite a few changes, it is important for everyone to get used to playing with Curry. The Warriors could improve the dressing room atmosphere and team chemistry which they can take into the new season. That is what Warriors coach Steve Kerr said talking about Curry’s return this season.
During his post-practice shooting routine today, Stephen Curry made 87 out of 100 3-pointers, including 47 of his first 50. Not bad for someone who hasn’t played an NBA game since late October.

“I think everybody’s excited,” he said. “He got an ovation today when I told the group he was going to scrimmage with us. Everybody was excited. It will be good for our young guys to feel what it’s like to play with him and vice versa. Steph needs to get to know these guys, too … it’s a big part of the final third of the season is everybody playing together, acclimating together, with the trade for Andrew (Wiggins), the young guys, Steph coming back, these games matter.”
Also, Curry’s return could improve the Warriors record to at least better than being the worst in the league. If Curry returns on March 1, he will have 22 games left in the season to make a difference.
