The recently concluded FIBA Basketball World Cup was a big disappointment for the USA. This humiliation has resulted in various NBA-associated voices speaking out about who should represent the US next year at the Paris Olympics. As rumors circulate about Los Angeles Lakers star and 2x Olympic Gold winner LeBron James leading the charge for his own version of the Avengers, two former Boston Celtics stars voiced their opinion.

Anticipations were high during the World Cup, as fans and enthusiasts cheered for Team USA to bring the coveted title home. Their expectations, however, were completely smashed after the team lost to Germany in the semi-finals. If that loss wasn’t enough, the USA also ended up losing to Canada and returned home without a medal.

He wouldn’t mind adding Anthony Davis to the roster later on. Adding Davis to the team was something that Garnett was definitely on board with. Pierce then proceeded to add his former team’s star player Jayson Tatum and others like Bam Adebayo, Damian Lillard, Devin Booker, Jaylen Brown, etc.

Pierce felt that his imaginary roster was “versatile” enough to fulfill each and every need. “Bron is gonna be at the 4 a lot. Bron and KD gonna play your 4,” said Pierce during the interview. He also stated that the country needed new stars. The 45-year-old said, “So now, you got to bring in some guys along, that you saying ‘Alright, they gonna carry it over to the next Olympics.’”

Garnett highlighted the fact that Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid may be playing for the USA as well. However, there are rumors of him representing France instead. Taking it into consideration, Pierce made his second last pick in Jaren Jackson Jr. since he would be a formidable addition to the team’s defense.

Garnett then went on to insist that New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson deserves to be on the roster. Nevertheless, Pierce and KG are not the only ones speaking out about forming a star-filled roster that will take on the rest of the world in Paris.

Kevin Garnett had earlier endorsed LeBron James and the others for a possible Team USA lineup. Highlighting the scenario on his Instagram story, Garnett wrote “A Mf ONE” and “THIS THE TEAM. Right here.”

Former Washington Wizards star Gilbert Arenas expressed his disapproval of the alleged reasons that the Team USA committee was giving for their humiliating defeat. He challenged them to “put out the best 12 players” for the Olympics, suggesting names like James, Curry, Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis, etc.

Even 51-year-old NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal couldn’t keep himself away from the trend. He uploaded a post on Instagram, apparently asking his followers to debate on who deserved the coveted spot.
