Even 23 years after retirement, Dennis Rodman continues to maintain the spotlight on himself. Recognized for his flamboyant character, the former Detroit Pistons forward recently made headlines for getting a tattoo on the left side of his face and hosting a boxing match in his backyard. Shortly thereafter, however, he came into the news for something completely different.

Besides being an expert in the sport of basketball, Rodman is knowledgeable about other sports as well. His love for boxing is exemplified by his friendship with Mike Tyson and other athletes. He ran into one of them almost 6 months after teaming up for a game.

Rodman’s 31-year-old girlfriend, Yella Yella, recently took to Instagram to share a post, consisting of two pictures. The first picture showed her and the former player donning the number 91. This had been Rodman’s number during his time with the Chicago Bulls. Earlier bearing the number 10 on his jersey, Rodman could not use the same number with the Bulls as it had been retired. Since 9 and 1 added up to 10, Dennis Rodman went along with a compromise.

The second picture showed Rodman and Yella Yella running into the former boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr.

As onlookers and Rodman gazed, Yella Yella shook hands with the former super featherweight champion. Despite hailing from different sports, Mayweather and Rodman have a good bond and respect each other on the basis of mutual ground.

The boxer had earlier teamed up with the former player to participate in an NBA Celebrity All-Star game. Besides the unlikely duo, NFL stars Stefon and Trevon Diggs, rappers Migos and Jack Harlow, and NBA legend Gary Payton were also present at the charity event.

Though the former NBA player and the boxer are on good terms, Mayweather once made it clear that he despises people like Rodman. While he did not name him directly, people were able to put two and two together from what he said.

The All-Star game in January was the last time that Mayweather and the Chicago Bulls legend were seen together. Until now.

Floyd Mayweather is not a fan of men with ‘painted nails’

Back in 2021, during a match between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Los Angeles Clippers, Floyd Mayweather was asked by a teenager for a photo. Looking as if he was in a hurry, Mayweather declined to take the picture with the teenager. But there was more to the denial.

The young fan captured a video where one could hear Money Mayweather saying, “Dude, you got painted nails. I don’t take pictures with a guy with no painted nails.” The comment left the fan in a daze and the TMZ soon shared the video online.

While the boxer may be against this lifestyle choice, it is something that other sportspeople have adopted in the past. There are several pictures of Dennis Rodman and UFC fighter Israel Adesanya with different colors adorning their fingertips.
