The NBA officiating by the referees has not been viewed well by the fans so far. Although the referees are trying to maintain order and keep things from getting escalated, the calls being given are questionable at times. Nikola Jokic was ejected from today’s match after playing for only 15 minutes. The head coach, Michael Malone, was also ejected from the game earlier.

Parsons believes that the referees are trying their best. They are also humans, so they sometimes make mistakes. But this can be frustrating for a player. For Nikola Jokic, he was constantly getting fouled during this game, yet there were no fouls being called by the referees. This made him mad, and he expressed his displeasure to the referees, which got him ejected from the game.

The current state of NBA officiating

Over the past few days, players like Anthony Edwards have been given a technical foul for staring at a player. That has severely changed people’s perceptions of officiating. So calls like this for Jokic, even though warranted, can also be deemed unnecessary by fans.

I did not follow the traditional route to become a journalist, but my love for basketball and writing has brought me here. Rather than simply looking at the game, I love to analyze how each player contributes to a team using BPM (Box Plus Minus) and other advanced metrics.
