35-year-old Isaiah Thomas is back in the NBA after two years. Thomas’ performance in the G league was noteworthy, averaging 33 points per game. He has signed a ten-day contract with the Phoenix Suns whom he previously represented during the 2014-15 season. The deal works as the Suns did not have a true point guard all season.

The two-time All-Star played 46 games for the Suns during the 2014-15, averaging 15.2 points, 3.7 assists and 2.4 rebounds. He was traded to Boston for the remaining season, where he played for 3 seasons averaging 24.7 points.

Why it is a win-win for Isaiah Thomas and the Phoenix Suns

Isaiah Thomas was struggling with a hip injury during the 2016-17 season with the Celtics. Yet he finished the season averaging 28.9 points per game, which is his overall highest throughout his NBA history. Because of injuries, it affected his playing style, and it hampered his growth.

The Suns are occupying the last spot in the Western Conference with an overall record of 39-28. Signing a 10-day contract helps the Suns to track Thomas’s current fitness issues and his ability. It also gives Thomas another chance to prove himself and establish himself as a real leader with his experience. With this move, Thomas will be hoping for a future contract in the NBA.

After his win in the G league match with the stars, Thomas expressed how much he is missing the NBA. “I just love this s**t too much,” Thomas told The Athletic. “I had a few tough years where sometimes you just feel like quitting because it’s too much. But I always say that’s the easy thing to do. So I just stayed at it, continued to trust the process, continued to enjoy the journey. Whether it was ups or downs, I’m back playing basketball. I’m back healthy. It’s just a super cool feeling because I never thought I would be able to play with no pain no more.”

Fans from different franchises are also proud to see Isaiah Thomas returning and applauding his never-give-up attitude.
