The Chicago Bears have lost one of the biggest legends who brought fame to the franchise in the early 60s and 70s. The NFL community came together to celebrate the life of the Hall of Famer. Joining them was Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson. While 2x NFL Defensive Player of the Year was “feared” when he was on the field, he became one of the first few athletes to take up a second career in acting. The Chicago native worked hard since the fifth grade to become a professional football player and spent his entire career in The Windy City. Decades later, legends from different sports continue to respect and admire the former linebacker.

Magic Johnson conveyed a lot with his simple, but effective tweet, as he shared heavy praise for the late Chicago Bears legend.

From 1965 to 1973, Dick Butkus dominated the NFL. He was a hard hitter during an already rough and competitive era. Though his career was cut short due to an injury, nevertheless, his contribution to the game was humongous. The life of the football legend came to an end on October 5th, 2023 at the age of 80. The NFL community was deeply saddened, and fans continue to celebrate the legacy of the NFL champion.

Though he played only 9 seasons, Butkus made it to the NFL All-Decade team in both the ’60s and ’70s. Apart from his quickness, his fearless demeanor was something that earned him a devout fan base. Trading on his tough-guy image, Butkus enjoyed a second career as an actor, and a sports broadcaster, featuring in over 15 films.
