The love for basketball didn’t run all the way through the O’Neal family. While the main man Shaquille O’Neal is still as passionate about basketball as he was when he started, his firstborn seems to not be on the same page as him. Taahirah O’Neal recently announced her ‘retirement‘ from basketball.

No, she wasn’t signed with a team or a league that she is bidding farewell to. Instead, Taahirah is done with watching the sport inside an arena. After her latest game experience, she posted on her Instagram, “This the last NBA game I will ever attend. I am officially retiring.”

Her following Instagram story is a sweet tribute to her superstar father who also happens to be one of the greatest NBA players of all time. She uploaded a 253-week-old post on her story with the caption, “I’ve been very consistent in my distaste for sports.” In the images, Shaq and Magic Johnson can be seen holding little Taahirah in their arms.

Going by her reaction, Taahirah didn’t have a good time in the arena. Her dad on the other hand is still deeply involved with the sport and the culture of basketball as a whole. Shaq is one of the hosts of arguably the best show on sports television, Inside the NBA. In fact, Taahirah tagged along with the Big Man a few days ago to the TNT studio.

The father-daughter duo marked the Take Your Daughter to Work Day in style. Shaq surely had fun on their day together as he got to bully his best friend, Charles Barkley, talk about the sport he grew up loving, and got to fly a drone (which he lost). Even on their day out, Taahirah was sleepy at the end of their day and Shaq had to resort to singing in his super heavy voice to be able to keep his daughter awake.

Taahirah posted another story on her Instagram, stating that the game that she was watching live, that decision wasn’t her. She wrote, “Never been here voluntarily. It’s interesting.” It’s safe to say that Shaq’s firstborn won’t be stepping inside an arena again anytime soon, not to watch a game of basketball for sure.
