Arenas brought up the situation wherein the 5x NBA champion was part of a Spurs team that was already dominant, a team that had won 50+ games before his arrival. Garnett, on the other hand, joined an allegedly “bad team” and had to work his way up from scratch.
“99% of number one picks are going to bottom feeding teams, where you have to build that legacy yourself,” explained Agent Zero.
Arenas’ ‘bottom feeding’ comment was a reference to the Minnesota Timberwolves, who picked KG 5 overall during the 1995 NBA Draft. Prior to The Big Ticket making his mark, the Wolves had never even qualified for the playoffs. During Garnett’s time, the team qualified for eight of them.
“He (Duncan) has a better chance of winning more because he’s on a number 1 team,” the Washington Wizards legend added. “He was good because he has a good team around him.”

A week ago, Arenas sat down for an interview with the ‘Iman Amongst Men’ show. During the same, Gil was asked about some of the “best trash talkers” during his time with the NBA.
Taking barely a few seconds, Arenas proceeded to name Gary Payton, Sam Cassell, Mark Jackson and Kevin Garnett.
Arenas placed a special emphasis on the 2004 NBA MVP. “K.G. is a funny one cause most of his conversation is to himself,” said Arenas during the interview. Garnett’s history with trash talk is well known amongst the NBA players’ community. 2016 NBA Champion Shumpert joined in on the opinion by stating that Garnett “talks s**t within rhythm.”
