As a fan of the game, Magic Johnson is hyped for the new NBA season starting tomorrow. However, as an owner of various sports franchises, the 5x NBA champion might not be the happiest person right now. After continuous disappointments, it’s safe to say Johnson has shifted all his hopes towards the Los Angeles Lakers, and another NCAA team for the next few months. The 64-year-old shared a few notable takes and comparisons to show why the Lakers and his alma mater have a great shot at the ultimate title this season. 

Now, it looks like only the teams mentioned above can help him overcome a $4 billion rich MLB team’s heartbreak.

Magic Johnson was excited for his MLB team, the LA Dodgers after they made it to the playoffs. Sadly, the fun did not last long after hell broke loose for the $4 billion rich franchise in the very first round. Now, Johnson is pinning his hopes on another LA side from the NBA to keep himself excited.

Thus, Johnson has shifted his hopes toward LeBron James‘ Lakers. The 3x NBA MVP shared on his Twitter, “I’m really excited about the start of the NBA season tomorrow! The four best teams in the West will be featured on national TV: the Lakers vs. the Nuggets and the Suns vs. the Warriors!”

In another tweet, Johnson shared, “My two favorite basketball teams in the world have a chance to win championships this year. The Los Angeles Lakers have a chance to win the NBA Championship and MSU’s men’s basketball team has a chance to win the NCAA Championship!”

2x NCAA champions Michigan State University made it to the quarter-finals and the semi-finals of the Big Ten in 2022 and 23, respectively. This time, former MSU star Johnson believes his team can make it past the Big Ten to win the NCAA title. 

The 1979 NCAA winner compared the Lakers’ gameplay to that of MSU. He shared, “The Lakers and MSU are both talented, play exciting run-and-gun basketball, have deep rosters, and have outstanding coaches in Lakers Darvin Ham and Hall of Fame MSU Coach Tom Izzo!”

MSU is indeed an iconic team with two NCAA titles under their belts. A third one is pending and Johnson believes it will happen this season.
