Anthony Edwards called Michael Jordan skillful, but the problem was calling him the only skillful player of his generation. Before making this statement, he admitted to not watching much of basketball back in the day. The 23-year-old got into hot waters not only with the fans but with a few legends as well. Magic Johnson defended his era and Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce, who made their debut a decade later than MJ, also chimed in.

Half these (current NBA players) can’t even be in the locker room,” stated KG on his podcast alongside The Truth. Thus, another debate started about the previous generation of players fitting into the current generation. Paul Pierce, usually with controversial takes, took a measured stance this time around, stating that the skill level of current players has evolved, but they lack the imagination and flare of the previous era.

Now on X, Paul Pierce justified how his role might have looked had he been playing today, as he wrote, “I don’t know what u yunggins talking bout im still lit.” Debating about his current stance could be fun, but his contributions to the Boston Celtics are not up for debate.

Paul Pierce was given the responsibility of steering the ship of Bean Town. Alongside Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen in 2007, they formed their ‘Big Three’, and that led Boston to two NBA Finals and an NBA championship in 2008. Also, the Celtics #34 earned his Finals MVP during that time.

Despite all his efforts, the current NBA champions’ city hasn’t forgotten his contributions.

Fans are behind the Paul Pierce hype train

Talk yo sh** truth,” replied one of his fans, signifying that Paul Pierce needs to keep hyping himself amidst the generational debate. Another fan couldn’t hold their excitement when they heard the 10x All-Star calling himself “lit,” and they wrote, “I am so excited that you, the GOAT, exist in this world. You will always be my GOAT.”

One user must have been tired of the generational debate and wasn’t thrilled with Paul Pierce’s absence on the court. The fan tweeted, “We hear you but we don’t see you onna court homie.” But, the love did not stop as there is a long list of achievements for the 46-year-old. Paul Pierce had 19.7 points per game in his regular-season career. Additionally, he averaged 18.7 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 170 games in the playoffs in his career.

Apart from this, a fan added his rookie stats, and his all-time leaderboard stats to drive home the point of him being undeniable. “I know paul, they don’t know about the truth,” said the fan. But, one thing people know is that Paul Pierce never wanted to leave Beantown. That’s how much he cared for the franchise and the fans know about it. Echoing the same sentiment, this fan wrote, “Forever lit ☘️ F the haters.
