2 Months After Bringing “Goliath” to the World, 47 YO Kevin Garnett Marvels at His Hero’s “Unstoppable” Tricks

Kevin Garnett is one of the most decorated NBA ‘bigs’ of all time. His unstoppable two-pointer jump shot, combined with his incredible defensive talent, made him one of the toughest players to play against during his time. The 47-year-old Hall of Famer had many inspirations growing up, but he had a favourite. His hero was arguably one of the most athletic professional athletes of all-time.

In a recent Instagram story that Kevin Garnett posted, he pays tribute to his hero’s “unstoppable” tricks.

For those who don’t know, Wilt Chamberlain was probably one of the most athletic NBA athletes of all time. Standing at 7’1 and weighing 275 pounds, the NBA legend got drafted into the NBA in 1959. His iconic rivalry with the legendary 11x NBA champion Bill Russell set the gold standard for how NBA athletes should compete and strive for greatness.

The “Big Ticket” fan boys over Late Wilt Chamberlain as he says in the interview, “As a 8 year old kid in 1962 I was fascinated by Wilt Chamberlain. I would look at the day later newspaper to see the San Francisco Warriors box scores for Wilt’s stats. NBA was on Sunday afternoon TV and the All Star Game was a national event. .Garnett had the chance to help out in the making of Late Chamberlain’s documentary “Goliath”. Kevin Garnett revealed that working on the documentary was not an easy ordeal. “It was like a big a** book report. I learned a lot (about Chamberlain),” Garnett said according to Boston Globe reporter, Gary Washburn.

Kevin Garnett pays tribute to the Late NBA legend

In a recent Instagram story, the Boston Celtics legend paid tribute to the legendary hall of famer, Wilt Chamberlain. Kevin Garnett posted Wilt’s iconic block on the legendary Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. “The Big Ticket” said on his story, “RIP WILT”.

He further says on his post, “Ohhh shyt…. HE BLOCK THAT SHHHI….ayee yooo just so you know the ‘Sky Hook’ was UNSTOPPABLE.“. Wilt Chamberlain’s block on Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s signature move has to be one of the most iconic moments of NBA history.

His block on Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who is a 7’2 giant and an inch taller than him, was extremely impressive. Only four players have ever managed to block Kareem’s ‘Sky Hook’ shot. Chamberlain blocked him twice in the same game, Bill Willoughby & Ralph Sampson managed the feat on one instance. Artis Gilmore blocked the shot too, but was unfortunately called for goaltending.

Considering that Wilt Chamberlain was going up against a prime Kareem Abdul-Jabbar who is 11 years younger than him, speaks volumes to the tenaciousness of Wilt. The Late NBA legend’s awe-inspiring blocks and multiple scoring records paved the way for future NBA ‘bigs‘ like Kevin Garnett.
