Years after stepping foot into Major League Baseball, Johnson has now added another team ownership to his resume. With an impressive net worth of more than $600 million, the 5x NBA champion is just a few years away from joining LeBron James and Michael Jordan on the billionaire list.

Joining forces with a co-owner of the Philadelphia 76ers, Johnson not only bagged a massive NFL deal but also made history yesterday. A day after sharing his disbelief at surpassing a few billionaires in the race to bag ownership, the Los Angeles Lakers legend shared a look into “one of the greatest days” of his life.

Magic Johnson embraces historic NFL deal 

$6 billion for an NFL team sounds crazy. However, not for Magic Johnson. This was not an easy deal to bag. Several billionaires were in line to buy the Washington Commanders. A few names that might stun you are billionaire Jeff Bezos and former NBA veteran Brian Davis. Although Bezos decided to opt out in the end, Davis did not. 

In fact, the former T-Wolves star offered to pay an exorbitant $7 billion in cash for the Commanders. However, guess it was not enough to beat the 76ers owner Josh Harris and Johnson.

Johnson shared his disbelief after striking the deal on Twitter yesterday. Hours later, now the 3-time Finals MVP shared a look into his first day at the Commanders’ arena. Johnson was all smiles as he shared a few pictures with Josh Harris, a few core members of the franchise, and along with cheerleaders and staff. 

The NBA legend shared, “What a great day! To be an NFL owner of the Washington Commanders, this is one of the greatest days of my life. The way the fans received us, the way the employees are fired up, and the amazing Redskins alumni…WOW.”

It’s safe to say creating history is a piece of cake for the former NBA superstar. Winning 5 championships and 3 MVPs in the NBA, Johnson indeed has had several great days in his career. Now with a net worth of $620 million, Johnson is not too far away from joining the elite group of billionaires.
