Stephen Curry Expresses His Frustration Regarding Late Contentious Call During Loss Against Blazers

The Golden State Warriors had a tough result tonight. They fell to the Portland Trail Blazers in a close two-point loss, which ended with some contentious officiating. After the game, Stephen Curry expressed his disappointment about the decision during the press conference.
With less than 14 seconds left, the Warriors were trailing by two points, following Damian Lillard’s clutch three-pointer. Since Curry was double-teamed, he was forced to pass to Draymond Green. As the former DPOY charged for a dunk, Lillard took a charge and forced the turnover. While the Warriors believed it was a charging foul, the referee thought otherwise.
His decision to call an offensive foul eventually cost the Warriors the game.

“It’s tough,” Curry said. “We all have our interpretations of the play, and we felt that there was a movement after Draymond took off. We were pretty confident in going to the review to get it overturned and then hopefully take a stop and take the win. Didn’t go our way, a tough way to end the game for sure.”

Coach Steve Kerr also echoed the sentiment. “Looked like a block to me. I thought he was sliding his feet. Referees got a look at it, made the call,” he said.
Were the Warriors unlucky to take home the loss?
The argument that Curry and the Warriors had is that since Lillard’s feet weren’t completely set, it should have been a blocking foul. But the argument that Blazers fans are quoting the part of the rule which says the player has to “get his torso directly in the path and beat him to the spot,” which doesn’t mention the need for the player’s feet to be set.
This decision has divided a lot of fans and the NBA needs to show some clarity now. The biggest reason for the confusion and the arguments is the lack of consistency when it comes to charges. If the refs are more consistent with such decisions, the whole process can be smoother.

Can Stephen Curry help the Warriors to bounce back?
In their final game before the All-Star break, the Warriors play the Suns. It will be a tough game because the Suns are currently one of the most in-form teams. Since the start of February, they have won 13 out of their sixteen games and have toppled the Lakers from the third seed.
