Golden State Warriors’ general manager Bob Myers’ said that the Dubs were looking to draft for the future. Myers said, “I think you owe it to the organization to build towards the future if there’s not an obvious win-now guy. If the win-now guy helps win four regular-season games, then what’s the point of that?”

The Warriors who had an injury laden 2019-20 season ended up with the 2nd overall pick in the 2020 draft. The Dubs can use this pick as an addition to the healthy big three of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green.

The Dubs have met with top picks James Wiseman, Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball, along with other projected lottery picks: Deni Avdija, Tyrese Haliburton and Isaac Okoro. When asked about who Warriors are planning to draft, Myers said “We’ll make [our decision] Wednesday night. When they call our name, we’ll decide.

The 7’1 Memphis big man is an elite rim protector and can be a very efficient pick-and-roll player. Wiseman can add dynamism to the Warriors squad and also add to the defensive end. Wiseman averaged around 19.7 points, 10.7 rebounds and 3 blocks a game. All of this in an average playing time of 23 minutes per match.

Although the big man lacks a jumper, Wiseman’s athletic ability and mobility can be a big plus to the Warriors. With the style of play that the Dubs have, Wiseman’s pace and speed can be big plus in the offence too.
