The LA Clippers blew their best chance to win an NBA title after incurring a tragic defeat against the Nuggets. They were a self-assuring unit that later proved to be a slightly over-confident pack. 

Clippers players like Paul George, Montrezl Harrell, Patrick Beverley, and Marcus Morris Sr. saw themselves involved in one or the other verbal battle during the playoffs. Some critics now suggest that the Clippers failed to walk the extra talk that they did. So what exactly, in the view of the well-known NBA analysts, went wrong with this franchise?

Were the Clippers too complacent or was there any other issue?

According to a former NBA Champion and now NBA analyst, Kendrick Perkins, the comments made by Danny Green were on-point. He came down strongly on the Clippers in an interview. The 35-YO expressed, “The Clippers were the most arrogant team in the NBA and they had only one champion far as a player that was Kawhi Leonard. Everyone else was cocky talking noise like they won championships and they did get humble.

“You have to respect the game of basketball in your opponent. All the basketball guards like Danny Green, a three-time champion just said, will humble you and that’s what happened to the Clippers.”

Danny had earlier stated that the Basketball gods will humble anyone who does not play the right way. He was intending it on the Clippers, who choked after being 3-1 up against the underdog Nuggets. 

Will the organization learn from their mistakes?

First and foremost, they’ll have to tone down their arrogance in order to pay more attention to the game. Next up, everyone knew how their bench was so strong, but they still failed to deliver in the key moments. Hence, the organization will have to work up some changes in their role players. 

They initiated a change by firing Doc Rivers right after the series loss. They now have Tyronn Lue as their new head coach. Kawhi Leonard is here to stay with the Clippers, but Tyronn will have to work on the conditioning of PG, who has been a failure in the playoffs. 

It is still a lot of time before the Clippers move to their new arena. But they must at least begin with a tweak in culture because nothing much for them has worked out until now. So they must embrace change.
