Howard played with LeBron in the Miami Heat and the two went on to become great friends. After retiring from the NBA, he became one of the best coaches in the NCAA. Interestingly enough, one of the most controversial moments in the NCAA involves him.

During a game between Michigan State and Wisconsin, Howard hit a Wisconsin assistant on the head. The authorities suspended him for five games and fined him a whopping $40,000 for violating the rules. When asked about the incident and how James’ support helped him, Howard had a lot to say.

He said, “LeBron has been one of my biggest supporters. When I was out for that two weeks, he reached out to me and let me know how much he supports me. He wants me to come out and be a better person. That meant so much man. That meant so much, just to know that your brother is cheering you on and supporting you in your tough times.”

Interestingly enough, LeBron and Dwayne Wade showed their support for Howard during the selection of the Michigan State Head Coach job.
