In a major coup for the Duke Blue Devils, five-star forward and the No. 1 prospect in the Class of 2024, Cooper Flagg, has officially committed to play for Coach K’s prestigious NCAA team. He announced his decision on the cover of SLAM 247 on Monday, October 30, 2023.
Flagg is a versatile player who won a Gold Medal for Team USA at the FIBA U17 World Cup when he was just 15 years old. However, he ultimately decided on Duke because of his lifelong fandom of the program and his belief that the program could help him reach his full potential.

His commitment is a huge boost for the Blue Devils, which already has the No. 1 recruiting class in 2024 with four other five-star recruits: Kon Knueppel, Isaiah Evans, Darren Harris, and Dylan Harper.
How Cooper can fit in at Duke
Cooper had a long-standing admiration for the program’s history of nurturing versatile players. Duke has a track record of refusing to put versatile players in a boxed position. The 6-foot-8 versatile Cooper can play anywhere on the court he wants. Duke Alumni Zion Williamson has been trained like an All-American tight end who never had a true position. He can be equally efficient in space, the rim, in transition, or on the perimeter. “Cooper Flagg is what a modern-day wing looks like in the NBA,” said one college coach to ESPN.
