The Blue Devils look in a resurgent mood to kick-start a new NCAA season. Fans are hoping they make a strong comeback after their disappointing early exit last year. Moreover, there are a lot of players in that locker room who are eager to get onto the court. Amidst those is their talented young point guard Tyrese Proctor.

The 19-year-old has a lot to prove in the upcoming season. And he’s making no bones about his game plan.

Tyrese Proctor opens up about his return

Proctor appeared on the latest episode of The Drive w/ Tim Donnelly. During the interview, he was asked what was the appealing part of him coming back to Duke. Tyrese responded, “I just think I wasn’t done yet. I felt like I had a lot more to prove. Obviously got my feedback from the scouts, my agents and my family. Just sat down, and had a conversation with them really early. I wanted to get my decision out before anyone else and set the pavement for the guys coming back.”

The Australian sophomore guard signed with Duke last year. Moreover, Proctor made it to the ACC All-Freshman team of 2023. He’s now looking forward to making an impact for the Blue Devils this season.

Tim Donnelly further asked him what else does he have to prove. Proctor said, “I feel like I got a lot. We took a second round exit last year which I wasn’t happy with at all. I’m trying to win a National Championship. That’s my goal, that’s why we all come to Duke. I want to keep developing as a player. I feel like I have a lot more to prove on court just as a point guard and a leader.”

A glimpse into the young guard

Tyrese Proctor had an on-and-off first year with the Blue Devils. Following this, head coach Jon Scheyer figured out how to use his potential. The talented No. 5 possesses clean techniques and can move swiftly across the court. He has a tremendous skill of creating his shots to go with quick releases. Furthermore, Proctor is an exceptional 3-point shooter. In addition to this, the 6-foot-5 guard is an efficient playmaker and can pose a threat to his opponents in the final minutes of the game. Moreover, his versatility is a bonus for Duke in the upcoming season.
