Chet Holmgren is on his way to the Gonzaga Bulldogs to help the team build off the success in the 2020-21 season and hopefully win a national championship for the program. They keep failing in the NCAA Tournament, and having a #1 recruit like Holmgren would really help them.
However, Holmgren is also a budding star in the basketball world. We saw the first glimpse of that when he announced his decision on ESPN in a TV special. NCAA Analyst Tate Frazier compared the spectacle to what LeBron James did when he announced ‘The Decision‘ to join the Miami Heat in 2010.

“I guess I do need to watch. Something amazing is going to happen. That’s kind of how I felt as it was happening. You know what it reminded me of? The LeBron decision from 2010. You look at the programming guide and it’s like an hour and a half is blocked out. What are we going to do for an hour and a half? However, Holmgren has made the decision to go to a winning program and help deliver them a national title. Considering his status as a top recruit that could be a generational talent, it shouldn’t be surprising to see him get his own ESPN special to announce his decision.
The decision to join the Bulldogs was expected by many. Now all that is left for him to do is do what LeBron did in Miami. And that is to win a title for the Gonzaga Bulldogs.
