Luka Garza is the leader of the Iowa Hawkeyes and is heading into his final March Madness run. Garza will be graduating after this season, so the senior has to make the most of this campaign. He is widely expected to be named National Player of the Year, and he would love to top his final year off with a title.

Garza commented on the Hawkeyes being seeded against #15 Grand Canyon Antelopes. There have only been eight times in March Madness history that the #15 seed has beaten the #4 seed. However, that may not even be a problem considering what Garza feels the team needs to do to enable their success.

“I think consistency on the defensive end throughout every single game. I think that’s the biggest. We know out offense is going to come along, at some point of the game we’re going to get hot. But if we’re able to get stops consistently throughout the game, we can beat anybody. We’ve beaten some really good teams and ever done that. So we’re excited for the opportunity and will make sure we make the most of it. We set those goals for a reason and we’re going to try and achieve them.”

Luka Garza: Can he lead Iowa to a national title?

Luka Garza is one of the best players that this generation of college basketball fans have seen. The star did not have his jersey retired by the Hawkeyes for no reason. He is their all-time leading scorer and brought them their best season in ages.

This is the most competitive the Hawkeyes have looked for a long time and Garza is the primary reason. However, secondary players like Jordan Bohannon are crucial to carrying this team to success as well. But the main responsibility will fall on Garza (as it should).
