Cam Newton is someone who has dealt with criticism throughout his career. Right from his Auburn days to his time with Carolina Panthers in the NFL, he’s always been in the public eye, often on the wrong side.
After an impressive NFL MVP run in 2015, Newton shouldered the weight of higher expectations. But the general public paid more attention to his off-field antics than his on-field performances.
He subsequently suffered a couple of serious injuries in 2019, which served as the final nail in the coffin to his career with the Panthers. With the New England Patriots, Newton was offered a fresh breath of life in the league.

Former NFL star says Cam Newton cannot replace Tom Brady in New England
On the recent segment of ESPN First Take, Ryan Clark spoke about the Patriots’ new starting quarterback, Cam Newton. Clark argued that Cam doesn’t necessarily have the attributes to replace TB12 in New England.
But the point is, he doesn’t need to. Newton’s own unique skill set is what makes him different from the traditional Tom Brady. Clark claims that Cam’s mobility in the middle is what coach Bill Belichick will look to utilize this season.

Patriots Quarterback coach heaps praise at Newton ahead of debut
One person who has no qualms about Cam’s raw talent is Patriots quarterback coach, Jed Fisch. Here’s what he said about the former Heisman Trophy winner last week while in conversation with Greg Hill on ‘The Greg Hill Show‘.
“Delighted to say that what you see is real, it’s genuine. It’s who he is. The charisma he has is every day. He’s extremely consistent as a person.
“Whether it be the boisterous personality, whether it be the way he leads, whether it be really everything he brings, the workout routine, his work ethic, it’s the same every day.

“I don’t know if surprised is the right word, as much as really excited that is the case. Because that is what you can work with. When you know what you’re getting every day, you can really make all the necessary adjustments, tweaks and whatever needs to be done to try and help him.”
The Patriots begin life after Brady this weekend. They will go up against the Miami Dolphins with Cam as their shot-caller. Let’s hope the former Carolina Panthers man has put his injury niggles behind him.
