“I’m a choker, I’m a trash can. Jalen Hurts absolutely destroyed me tonight.” Those words didn’t come from Patrick Mahomes, but from a deepfake video that lit up social media after Super Bowl LIX. The fake Mahomes went on to trash-talk teammate Travis Kelce and even called out Kelce’s fiancée, Taylor Swift: “And Travis Kelce was too worried about fixing his hair the whole game, trying to look cute for Taylor Swift. He went ghost when I needed him most.”

Millions saw this AI-generated caricature, with the TikTok video alone amassing over 7.7 million views. Fans had mixed reactions: some found it hilarious, others were unsettled by how real it looked. “This is the most realistic AI I’ve ever seen,” one fan admitted. Another said, “I’m a Chiefs fan and this is funny as hell.” That’s exactly why Chris Cabott, Mahomes’ agent and CEO of Steinberg Sports & Entertainment, posted a crucial warning on X.
“Please be advised that Mr. Patrick mahomes does not operate any private X (formerly twitter) account or on any social media platform. We urge you to report any impersonator accounts directly to us. Thank you for your cooperation and continued vigilance…..Management team,” Cabott said. Reportedly, Mahomes’ “private” fake accounts have been made on social media platforms, though his public accounts are still officially his. But this isn’t the first time Mahomes has been a victim of misinformation.

Back in July 2021, a viral Facebook post falsely claimed Mahomes had left the Chiefs’ training camp. And he had vowed not to play another down until the team changed its name. The post even featured a fake quote from Mahomes. But it was an obvious fabrication from a parody Twitter account known for spreading fake sports news.

This hoax fooled some fans and journalists before being swiftly flagged and debunked by Facebook’s misinformation team. The Chiefs later confirmed Mahomes was fully committed. And the team’s president publicly stated the franchise would keep the current name. This incident showed how easily false narratives could spread. It further makes the agent’s recent warning about fake social media accounts more urgent. But while that was unfolding, there was another update tying Mahomes and Kelce to pop culture.

Patrick Mahomes had to include Swift’s Easter eggs
Mahomes recently gave an interview about their new Kansas City restaurant, 1587 Prime. He revealed that he and Kelce “obviously” included nods to Taylor Swift on the menu. One highlight is a cocktail named after Swift’s 2024 hit “The Alchemy.” It’s a vodka-based cocktail that blends fruit and citrus with a touch of tea. The mix includes dry curaçao for sweetness and aronia berry for tart depth. It even comes with cranberry and strawberry for fresh fruity notes, lime for a zesty kick, and oolong tea to round it out with a smooth, earthy finish. Mahomes admitted on “The Drive” radio show, “I’m not a big liquor drinker myself, but from everyone else, I’ve heard it’s a really good drink and obviously [we] wanted to have an ode to Taylor and how important she is, not only to us but this city as well.”

Mahomes expects the drink to be a best-seller and said fans would love it. “I think people will be super excited to get it, and it has the theatrics that I think people will love. I’m sure it is something that will be ordered a ton and be a bestseller at 1587.” The restaurant officially opens Sept. 17 in Kansas City, wrapping the pop superstar’s cultural impact into the Chiefs’ local brand. The day becomes extra special as it marks the 30th birthday of Patrick Mahomes. Many celebrities, analysts, and friends are expected to join the celebration.
