The NFL Drafts are just around the corner and future NFL athletes all around are attempting their best to stick away from the pressure. Even the hottest prospects from college are worried right now because there is a lot of chatter about them, and sometimes that chatter manifests itself. Amidst the scenes of tension of what the future holds, who better to console them than Super Bowl finalist Mr. Irrelevant, Brock Purdy?

Just after dropping a John Deere commercial, the 49ers QB came to the Pat McAfee Show and talked about his NFL journey with the former Colts punter. Super Bowl conversations, Purdy taking on leadership roles and advice to the rookies about the upcoming drafts is what the QB mainly remarked about in this interaction with the podcast hosts.

One of the co-hosts of the Pat McAfee show, Connor Campbell, asked Purdy about how he kept his mind from all the chatter and the naysayers being the 262 pick of the last draft. “When you’re going through you know, the draft process and you’re hearing things being said about you, how do you kind of stay locked in?”

For Purdy, it wasn’t as much about the journey. On the contrary, the QB thought about his course of action in the future after he would get a chance to play for an NFL side. I think you know from me I always knew like dude, what wherever I go no matter how I get there like that’s all it matters. Like what I do when I get there. And so I kept that in mind.”

Purdy also had some advice from Ryan Fitzpatrick along the way who mentioned to him how the position of entering the league does not quite matter, but it is what you do with the opportunity, using the right mindset that plays a crucial role. In the initial stages of his career, the QB focused on learning the playbook and proving himself to his teammates.

He added in the conversation later, “All the talk of should he get drafted here, there, like none of that matters man. What matters when you get here and you make the team and you win games and that’s have looked at it you know even before I got drafted and that’s how I still look at it.”

Fast forward to today, from being a Super Bowl runner-up to signing multiple commercials with companies like Toyota, Pioneer Seeds, and John Deere, the QB has come a long way in his career. Recently, not only did he partner with John Deere, but he’s also helping them to look for a CTO.

What the QB failed to make with his NFL contract, he’s making sure to cash with all the partnership that he’s amassed since the time he stepped into the league. It’s not the end of the world if you’re Mr. Irrelevant and Purdy has proved it multiple times. The good thing about the commercial is that it encourages common people outside of the world of fame to apply for the job, which will change their lives for the better.

The guy who was Mr. Irrelevant has the power to change other people’s lives today. Maybe it’s not that bad being Mr. Irrelevant!
