The odds are backing the 49ers to win the Super Bowl LVII. On the same note, quarterback Brock Purdy is people’s choice to win the NFL MVP. But let the team’s offensive success not distract you from the fact that the NFC runner-ups have truly fired all cylinders to reach the point they are at now. Under all the success, they have matched one special feat that dates back 61 years.

RB, Christian McCaffrey, has remained a constant performer for the 49ers this season and has long been the rushing leader in the league. With time, the distance between him and the 2nd place has only widened. Lately, the defense has accompanied him with the least points allowed per game. And combined, they have broken a long hiatus of complete NFL dominance for the first time in the Super Bowl era.

McCaffrey has rushed for 1177 yards with 12 touchdowns and only 2 fumbles in 13 games. His dominance has been prominent since week 1 and has reached a whopping 336-yard lead over 2nd placed Derrick Henry. In the meantime, the team’s defensive unit has stepped up the game led by the wall of San Francisco, Nick Bosa. The 49ers have allowed the least points per game (PPG) in the league so far, which stands at an impressive 15.8 topping the league.

By doing so, they have become the first player-team combo since 1962 to achieve the rare feat of leading both statistics simultaneously. This happened before that when fullback Jim Taylor and the Packers lead the league in both these areas. There are only 3 other instances apart from these 2 when such a case was recorded, all of which came before that year.

The NFL Championship game was replaced by the modern-day NFL in 1966, and no team has recreated the feat ever since before the 49ers! The 49ers’ success is not a fluke by any means. With every passing game, the team is proving how rugged they are top-to-bottom. This is reflected in the season’s Super Bowl odds as well.

Will the 49ers make the unthinkable happen with McCaffrey, Purdy, and Bosa?

QB Brock Purdy is the people’s favorite to win the NFL MVP, and the team has been touted to win their 6th Ring in Super Bowl LVIII. But what are the odds that Christian McCaffrey and Nick Bosa join the two to top their respective departments?

The first three are doing enough to reach the top, but realistically, Bosa is the most experienced in that department. The DE is the Reigning Defensive Player of the Year, and one of the best performers in the season, which is reflected in the team’s PPG as well. So, there’s a huge chance of him winning the prestigious APP award back-to-back.

If that is to happen, the 49ers will be the first-ever side to pull this feat off. Possibly the only side for a long time, too. And with their recent performances, it seems to be happening. Nothing’s impossible for the side that defeated the Eagles on home-field !

My story of becoming an NFL writer is as interesting as my story of becoming an MMA practitioner. Coming from such a sport where athletes look to knock the brain cells off each other for a living, I liked the aggression that American Football had to offer. Before I even realized it, I religiously started following American football, picking up the most challenging in-depth write-ups.
