Andra Day on singing the Black national anthem at Super Bowl LVIII
In interviews before the Super Bowl, Andra Day said she was a bit nervous about performing at the mega event. However, she is habitual in overcoming her anxiety by praying. A “deeply spiritual person,” Day asserted she would resort to prayer before taking over the Super Bowl stage in Vegas. Meanwhile, she also added that she expects an “out of the body” experience while singing the Black national anthem. “My body’s gonna be shaking like hell,” said Andra Day.

“It’s a hymn of triumph, and that’s what I want people to encounter when I sing this song. I want them to know that we have victory and we have peace already… It feels like there’s an honor,” Day added, referring to Lift Every Voice and Sing, or the Black national anthem. Alongside Day, the Super Bowl also features Reba McEntire, Post Malone, and Usher performances. Are you excited about Andra Day’s “out of the body” performance? Tell us in the comments.
