The New York Jets finished their season with an embarrassing record and stand just above the New England Patriots, who did even worse this season. Both teams have similar issues if we magnify and look into the problems. The quarterback position is unstable, the defensive players are fed up with the offense’s inability to score, and the head coaches don’t seem to know how to handle their team. Zach Wilson got the short end of the stick after a couple of disastrous games. Believe it or not, the situation is the same with the Patriots signal caller, Mac Jones.

The Jets spent all the fortune to sign Aaron Rodgers and got coach Nathaniel Hackett with him along with a couple of other friends of the ex-Packers QB to get the team going. Alas, the Jets became a franchise that has been in the longest playoff drought in North American sports franchises in 13 years. This doesn’t seem to fix itself anytime soon, especially with Aaron Rodgers still healing.

The New York Jets are in shambles

Dianna Russini shared The Athletic’s report on X with a caption, “”It’s just such a f—ing mess. “The Jets have issues. We’ve all seen some of it but what REALLY went down behind the scenes? We spoke to 30 sources in and around the Jets organization to better understand their failed season. Story with @ZackBlatt”

The 30 sources mentioned in the X post had a penchant for anonymity but were not afraid to mention that the team had an “excuse-making” problem along with a “paranoid HC”, an “ill-equipped OC”, and “no vision” for their quarterback Zach Wilson after Rodgers career took an unfortunate turn. It was also pointed out in the article that the team had “no tunnel vision” and that Aaron Rodgers “rubbed some teammates wrong”.

One of the Jets’ coaches mentioned, “It’s just such a f****** mess,” and added that something had to change in the organization for more fruitful results. Rodgers sat down in a press conference in the media and was cryptic about the whole situation. Maybe at some point, it was the Jets management’s fault because they hired an old, glorified QB and Nathaniel Hackett, who was coming off of a bad 15-game run as the Broncos HC.

The Jets’ QB Zach Wilson’s situation is quite similar to the Patriots’ Mac Jones, who hasn’t exactly been treated the best by the franchise.

How are Mac Jones and Zach Wilson in the same boat?

An article from the NY Post gave more insight into the situation. At some point, we heard that the Pats demoted Jones to a third-string QB position, and he got to know about the move just 90 minutes before the game. But Zach Wilson has been a bit fortunate in that the Jets at least thought of informing him that he was being benched or demoted way ahead of time. This is what Mac Jones envies about the New York Jets signal caller, despite the team being in shambles.

Mass Live’s Mark Daniels reported that “Jones privately lamented to locker room confidants that no one talks to him,”, and his relationship with Bill Belichick was shaky at best. Despite both QBs being drafted in the same class in 2021, Wilson received far better treatment from his team than Mac Jones did from the Patriots.

The Patriots finished their season with a 4-13 record, which was the worst in the franchise’s history since 1992. At least the Jets did a bit better. Nobody is interested in hiring Bill Belichick and we understood that after the Falcons rejected him after having interviewed Belichick twice.

Hence, the problems with the teams were the same. A bad coaching situation, mixed with a lack of vision and altercations from other players, led to the downfall of both teams.

One take at a time

Basketball has stuck with me ever since I was a kid. I remember watching Kobe Bryant sometime in 2008 and being blown away. Like every kid my age, I was utterly taken aback by his moves and abilities as an athlete.
