A wish came true for fans as the incident that had never happened in almost 8 decades finally occurred midway through the season. As the Pittsburgh Steelers sit in the third position in the AFC North division with just six wins and four losses, the Steelers stakeholders have decided to go as per the fans’ chanting.

In 1941, the Steeler Nation witnessed an in-season coaching change for the last time. Now, the team is experiencing a similar incident after a shocking demand. Pat McAfee, in a recent episode of his podcast, revealed these occurrences, marking the boldest decision by the Steelers that happened in an 82-year gap.

In a recent episode of “The Pat McAfee Show” podcast, the NFL punter shared a few clips of the Steeler Nation chanting a wish for the team. In the clips, the football enthusiasts could be heard shouting, “Fire Canada,” referring to a demand to fire Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Matt Canada.

Now, it seems their wish has finally been fulfilled as the team relieved Canada of his duties on Tuesday. This move came out after an 82-year time gap, as in 1941, the Steelers had their coaching changes last time when the team’s half-owner, Bert Bell, fired himself in the midseason.

Matt Canada was hired by Pittsburgh as a quarterback coach on January 15, 2020. And then just over a year later, on January 25, 2021, he was picked up as the offensive coordinator after replacing Randy Fichtner. When he was in charge, the team never gained 400+ total yards of offense in their 58 consecutive games.

Furthermore, Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett scored just 1.9% in his over 500 attempts, the lowest pass TD rate by any QB since 1970. Hence, the team decided to move from Canada, potentially giving running back coach Eddie Faulkner a chance to take over the OC position. Meanwhile, QB coach Mike Sullivan is likely to handle play-calling duties.

I resonate with movies, exploring places, and not missing a single NFL game. If the NFL is my love, then I have to say, ‘my love’ found me! I understand what it takes to be an athlete and perform at such a high level since I too have tasted small-time success in sports. As an athlete, I have bagged the coveted district-level championship in track events.
