Vrabel shared heartfelt news Friday about former Williams. “This week is Crucial Catch, and I unfortunately have to tell you that Terrell Williams was determined to have prostate cancer and is in the process of treatment, meeting with specialists and figuring out the best plan of attack to be able to attack this, heal it, fix it and allow him to get back to better health.”

Coach Vrabel expressed profound respect and affection for Williams, describing him as more than just a colleague. “You know how much Terrell means to me personally and to the people on this football team.” The deep bond between the two men goes back six years to their time in Tennessee, highlighting the special connection that extends beyond the football field.

Throughout the offseason and early weeks of the NFL campaign, Williams missed some team activities while managing a medical matter at home in Michigan. Despite these difficulties, he stayed engaged with the Patriots’ defensive planning remotely and continued offering guidance when possible.

Vrabel spoke candidly about Williams’ diagnosis, stating, “We want to send our regards and let everybody know publicly that’s what he’s dealing with. When he’s ready to talk, he’ll talk on his behalf. But I wanted to let you know that’s what was going on.”

With Williams stepping back from full-time duties recently, the Patriots have adjusted smoothly. Zak Kuhr has taken over calling the defense during games, while Vinny DePalma has increased his involvement with the linebackers.

According to Vrabel, “I think the communication through the week, organization hasn’t missed a beat whatsoever.” But as the news about Williams spread, fans and analysts rallied in support of him.

Coach Vrabel emphasized the top-level care available: “I don’t know if you could get any better anywhere else, but our medical staff and people in this town have been fantastic to help him and get him started with that process.” Carlos A.
