“We Were Onto Something” – Broncos WR Questions Russell Wilson’s Exit Decision

The Denver Broncos bit the bullet and released superstar QB Russell Wilson from their roster. However, his exit might not go down well with the locker room. As wide receiver Courtland Sutton among many others bid their farewells to the legendary QB.
With head coach Sean Payton arriving at the Broncos last season, the expectations were over the roof. And Wilson was supposed to be the one to lead the Broncos to the Super Bowl. But that relationship broke down within a season, and now he’s gone, but his teammates are still behind him!
Russell Wilson leaves behind a ton of memories

Wilson arrived at the Broncos from the Seattle Seahawks in a blockbuster trade in 2022. However, his two seasons with the Colorado outfit did not pan out as he would’ve wanted. The troubles began during the last two games of the regular season when he was benched. Now the Broncos predictably cut him from the roster.

However, one of the star wide receivers on the team, Sutton is reminiscing about their days together. “We were onto something”, the WR wrote with a picture of him and Wilson on his Instagram story.

The Broncos are leaving a mammoth sum of $85 million as dead cap money to remove the 35-year-old. Like Sutton, many are scratching their head on this decision. And the locker room has thrown their support behind the legendary QB.

And he is not the only one, the 23-year-old RB Jaleel McLaughlin wrote “Brotha” with a sad smiley on X (previously Twitter). To which the Super Bowl winner replied as well, praising the youngster’s work ethic.

Garrett Bolles, the tackle for the team, wrote, “Forever grateful to have had the opportunity to play beside you. Now go be great!”, on social media.
The tight end for the Broncos also made sure to give his wishes for the 9X Pro Bowler. He wrote, “Love you! Thankful for everything”, with a picture of Wilson.
Damarri Mathis, the CB, made sure to convey the nature of his relationship with the great QB as well on his social media. “Love you fam; Russell Wilson”, wrote the 24-year-old on his Instagram.
