14x All-Star Derek Jeter Once Admitted Missing Tom Brady’s Bowl Games on Purpose After Replacing His Friend as Michigan Starter

Derek Jeter has been a fan of different quarterbacks during college football. He was very fond of the way Tom Brady and Drew Hanson played. He spoke about his appreciation for Brady’s game.

However, the baseball star has revealed why he missed Brady’s games when the quarterback played in college. He had revealed the reason for him missing the games.

Jeter’s comments on Tom Brady

Derek Jeter and Tom Brady have been friends for quite a while. They have shared moments online, tweeted, and spoken to each other. However, their friendship started off because of a college rivalry. Jeter had grown up in Michigan. Brady had played for the University of Michigan, and their connection started from there. Jeter was eager to play for the Wolverines but he was drafted by the Yankees before he could. Mr November was still a staunch supporter of Michigan.

Despite being Michigan’s biggest fan, Jeter did miss some crucial games where Brady was starting as the quarterback. When Jeter was asked about this, he mentioned that he missed both the Citrus Bowl as well as the Orange Bowl victories. However, the baseball star did speak about witnessing the Michigan quarterback in action in regular games. He talked about why he was there and said, “I never made the bowl games, but I was there when he was in college, because Drew Henson was there.”

Henson vs Brady: Jeter’s take

When the two quarterbacks played for Michigan, there were often questions about their comparisons. Brady and Henson were often put on the board and compared. Henson had come out of high school touted as one of the finest talents of his time. However, Brady had earned the right to lead his team through practice and dedication. Barring a short time when there was confusion, Brady ultimately started as the quarterback for Michigan. In the case of Derek Jeter, he had made it clear that he too was enamored by the high school talent and was here to see him.

The Brady-Henson debate gained a lot of popularity. People picked different sides for the debate. However, Derek Jeter would always answer the controversial question in the way Jeter does. “I don’t get involved in controversies,” he said when he was asked to make the comparison. However, the intriguing question is why did Jeter not attend Brady’s biggest college games. However, the interesting reason he gave for watching normal games, it seems like Jeter is giving his views on the debate without actually saying anything.
