Cryptocurrency is all the rage right now. Many celebrities and athletes have supported its hype. In fact, celebrity athletes like Packers’ Aaron Rodgers and Golden State Warriors, Kyle Thompson, accepted a chunk of their salaries in digital coins. It looks like bitcoin is slowly making its way into sports.

A-Rod and the four-time NBA champ, Thompson, both collaborated with CashApp to accept a part of their salaries. 36% of employees under the age of 30 are more interested in getting paid in bitcoin. Also, 31% of employees between the ages of 30 and 44 are also keen.

Warriors star, Kyle Thompson, returned after 900 days to play his first game. He declared on Twitter that he will accept his salary in the digital coin. Along with that, he made a donation of $1 million in bitcoin to fans. He used CashApp to make the transaction.

The future is bright for Aaron Rodgers

In November 2021, the Green Bay Packers star QB tweeted, “I believe in Bitcoin & the future is bright.” Through his tweet, he explained and announced that he would accept an undisclosed amount of his $22.4 million salary in cryptocurrency, and also that he partnered with CashApp for the procedure to go through.

At the time of the announcement, the elite shot caller was also going through the loss of last year’s playoffs. But that wasn’t the only problems Aaron Rodgers suffered.

Although the details about how much of his $33.4 million in earnings is related to bitcoins, he isn’t the only athlete to accept part of his wages in digital coins.

Former Los Angeles Rams wide receiver, Odell Beckham Jr, also announced that he will do the same as Rodgers. When Beckham tweeted his decision, the value of bitcoins increased to a $60,092. Therefore, the total value of his $750,000 paycheck would have dropped to $465,000.
