The rising star of the Alabama Crimson Tide is set to take center stage with his leadership skills, and Kalen DeBoer is all for it. Ever since Nick Saban left the team, the squad has direly needed a role model to look up to. DeBoer seems to understand the vital importance of Jalen Milroe and named him the starting QB at a recent press conference.

Milroe, the quarterback for the Alabama Crimson Tide, is the pride and glory of the team. Now that Milroe will take on the role of No. 1 quarterback, he will have a lot of hope riding on his shoulders as he tries to carry on the legacy that Saban left behind. Fortunately for Alabama fans, Milroe is already doing a great job as the leader of his team.

Only six days ago, Kalen DeBoer, the new HC for Alabama, took to a conference after spring football practice. He talked about the team’s state and told the media that Jalen Milroe would be the team’s starting quarterback.

Concerning his skill and determination, this is what the running back for Alabama, Justice Haynes, had to say about his QB. He said, “J-Mil, he’s a great leader. He leads all the time. He leads by example. He’s the first one here in the morning. He’s going to lead. He’s going to grind. The work that he puts in, I love it. We push each other. During 4th Quarter, we were right there neck-and-neck pushing each other like ‘How bad do you want it?”

Milroe acknowledges the responsibility that comes along with being the starting QB

There is no doubt that Milroe used to be Saban’s gem on the roster as well. Now that Saban is gone, Milroe’s shoulders will rest heavy with the burdens of fans and teammates. But now that he is finally leading the team at the forefront, here’s what it feels like for Milroe.

He said, “There’s a lot of things that are asked for a quarterback, but No. 1 is just about leading the operation and being confident. Whether it’s post-snap or pre-snap reads, there’s a lot of things that we can do to be explosive as an offense and be the best offense in the country. 

Milroe added, “I’m excited because there’s a lot of things this offense can offer. All we want to do right now is master it so we’ll be ready.” As the next season draws closer, all eyes will be on DeBoer and Milroe as they try to prove that Alabama is still a force to be reckoned with, even without the legendary Nick Saban.
