The prince of the USC Trojans is headed to a bright future in the NFL as the buzz around his name continues to rise. With the NFL Draft only 37 days away, he is projected to be the number 1 QB pick. Though his Combine interviews and certain reservations about his medical evaluation are raising a few eyebrows, they won’t deter his chances of landing with the Chicago Bears.

Caleb Williams, the quarterback for the USC Trojans, was the pride and glory of the team back in the 2023 season. During a do-or-die game against the Washington Huskies, the Trojans faced an unfortunate defeat by a score of 52-42 despite Williams’ mighty efforts. If it weren’t for the loss, he could’ve gone on to win the Heisman Trophy twice in a year. But since he exhibited a phenomenal performance individually, he is all set to land with the Chicago Bears now as the top draft prospect.

On the latest episode of the ‘BFR Podcast’, the hosts dove deep into the topic of the USC quarterback and where he could end up, come Draft Day. Additionally, they compared him to the former QB for the Bears, Justin Fields, who recently got traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers to supposedly make space for the arrival of Williams to the team.

Host Justin Agustin said, “For me personally, I believe Caleb is talented enough and you’re going to see it right away. I think his teammates will be the first to see it. Okay. This guy is different. I mean, for me personally, like the fun thing about Caleb Williams, while all this was going on, right? He’s been keeping receipts, man. He’s been liking tweets. This guy is so competitive, right? He has such like, fuck you, I’m gonna show you the type of attitude, and not that Justin was that. Because I think Justin was very….he has that Moxie, that aurora, that confidence in himself but sometimes didn’t get going with that confidence until like he started stringing some plays together.” Thus, it is prominent that Williams might be a better fit for the Bears than Fields since he brings so many other qualities to the table. With all that said, here’s the former quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons weighing in on the Fields versus Williams debate.

Matt Ryan shares his thoughts on whether the Bears should’ve drafted Fields or not

Now that Justin Fields has been traded to the Steelers, the Bears are sending a message that they will be relying solely on Caleb Williams or whoever they choose to draft to lead them to glory. While a lot of the fans were upset about the trade since Fields has given a lot for the team, a lot of the NFL analysts spoke on the matter, deeming it a wise decision. One of these analysts was Matt Ryan, the former QB of the Falcons who was with the team for over 14 seasons.

He said, “I think Justin played well down the stretch last year. After he came back from the injury, I think it was some of the most consistent football he’s played in his young career. But it really boils down to if you feel Caleb Williams is the generational talent that so many people think he is, you can’t pass up on that opportunity. It’s not necessarily a slide at Justin. I think it’s just the situation that presents themselves.” Now that Fields will be trying to make the Steelers his new home, Williams will be riding on a lot of expectations as he dons the white Bears’ jersey.
