Expectations reigned high for Deion Sanders , who rallied for the Colorado Women’s Basketball team prior to the Sweet 16 on March 30. Coach Prime and the basketball team’s bond seems a bit personal since his daughter Shelomi is a member of the team. Before the contest, Sanders took to X to post about his high hopes. 

However, the father has been robbed of the opportunity to flaunt his proud smile as Colorado lost to the Iowa Hawkeyes, courtesy of Caitlyn Clark, who demolished all the hopes for Shelomi’s team. Do watch for more updates on Clark’s rage on the court.

The aftermath of Saturday afternoon left Deion Sanders crestfallen as the Hawkeyes were back to their best. Till the game started, his aspirations had been palpable as he shared on X, “Let’s go @CUBuffsWBB !!! Yes, I BELIEVE.” But the opponents of the Colorado cruised past them with an impressive 89-68 during the Sweet 16 of the 2024 NCAA Women’s Tournament. Even though Sanders’ daughter’s team started well with a free throw within only 11 seconds into the game, having a 1-0 lead, Clark ensured not to give any other chance to Colorado.

Responding with a layup in the beginning and then in the middle of the second quarter, Clark helped Iowa lead by double digits all throughout the rest of the game. After Shelomi’s team, Clark and the Hawkeyes will contest against LSU in the Elite Eight in Albany, New York, on Monday. Even though Deion Sanders’ Colorado dream has been busted, Coach Prime was all praise for Clark.

Deion Sanders’ word of wisdom for Clark 

Last month, Coach Prime appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where Sanders was asked to stand before Clark’s cutout. Being an avid basketball player, Sanders responded to Fallon’s question about whether he would fancy a chance with the all-time leader of college basketball.
