The Colorado Buffaloes are already full swing into their spring football practice and Deion Sanders isn’t going easy on them. After unleashing his fury on his players on the first day of spring training, he’s back at it again and this time, the defense gets the hit. 

Last season proved that Colorado lacked on the defensive side of the ball allowing points per game and 464.6 yards per game. So it’s no wonder why the team finished miserably with 4-8 despite raising everyone’s expectations when they began 3-0. Coach Prime isn’t about to allow such a scenario again this season and it’s clear from the way he’s hyping up his defense.

Deion Sanders unleashes his fury on the Buffs’ defense

Deion Sanders clearly isn’t happy with the way Shilo Sanders and the defensive team are playing the game during their final practice. According to Coach Prime’s observations, the defense needs to get more physical as there hasn’t been any intensity on the field. He yelled out his frustration on Well Off Media saying, “I see no physicality yet… Ain’t nobody hit nobody yet. Quit reaching. Get there with your feet. Do not grab him. Let the ball carrier go hit him. He needs to be hit.”

For the Buffs, the defense has mainly been the problem since last season as they gave up too many big plays, particularly in the run game. This season, Deion Sanders isn’t about to let the defense weaken as he inspired physicality on the field. Hopefully, with Robert Livingston hired as the new DC, change will be projected this year. After all, the Buffs’ defense is filled with potential new and returning players, all of whom just need a little brush-up and some pep talk.

A look into Colorado Buffs defensive players

This season looks more promising with several key defensive transfers including 4-star Quency Wiggins and JJ Hawkins who could be imperative in strongside defense. In addition, recruits like Brandon Davis-Swain and Eric Brantley are no less of a valuable asset. The team has Chidozie Nwankwo and Shane Cokes on the defensive line while transfers like Anquin Barnes, Amari McNeill, and Taurean Carter can potentially turn the dismal defense around.

For the linebacker position, Trevor Woods could be returning as the starter with LaVonta Bentley having a high chance to join him. Travis Hunter’s position as a cornerback can be expected while other talents like DJ McKinney and Preston Hodge can add to the depth. As for safety, Shilo Sanders and Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig take the start. It remains suspenseful as to whether the change in the players and coaches can impact the Buffs for the better on the field this season.
