In what is a heartbreaking event for the baseball world, Coach Mike Martin passed away on February 1, 2024, in Tallahassee, FL after battling with dementia for three years. Deion Sanders who was a former MLB player himself paid his tribute to the legend in a heartwarming X post. He wrote, “He was 1 of the best baseball minds in the game. I respected & adored him truly. He’s a legend, a winner but most of all a good man.”

Coach Prime, a two-sport athlete, was one of the fortunate players to have played baseball under Mike Martin. Although he only played under his great leadership at FSU for two seasons in 1987 and 1988, the coaching impact had been profound.
