Coach Prime is police for his players’ socials

Deion Sanders is ready to cross the line to become more than just a coach to his players. In a recent Well Off Media appearance, Coach Prime brought up an incident with 5-star recruit Jordan Seaton that happened last week or the week before. He said, “He put out a video and the whole rap song was profanity.”

Coach Prime brought up his own example saying, “I’ve garnished a multitude of deals just by my social alone and we want those young men to do the same. So we coached him up a little bit and we tell him to clean it up.” As the HC, Deion Sanders is right in reprimanding his new commit as players like them should be very careful in their social media handling. In the case of Seaton who is a rising star with lots of people looking up to them or following them, these defamatory posts can take a toll on his brand image and lead to unnecessary roadblocks.

The positive side of social media

Coach Prime has a massive following of over 4.7M and 1.8M on his Instagram and Twitter, respectively. The 56-year-old uses his account not only to give personal updates or insights on what’s happening with the Buffs. But he also uses it to post motivational quotes with subjects ranging from inspiring people to believe in themselves, stay positive, and keep their faith.

Another positive side of the right usage of social media can be seen through Deion Sanders Jr.’s Well Off Media where he posts quality content capturing the Colorado Buffaloes for the world to see. The YouTube channel which boasts 436K subscribers earned the appreciation of many people, including Colorado’s new commit, Chidozie Nwankwo’s father who said, “Looking at the video yesterday, those guys working hard with the Buffs… The camera is picking up everything. Not just the good, but the bad. That is amazing man.”

In an age where social media can make or break an athlete’s career, Deion Sanders’ emphasis on social media etiquette is both timely and necessary. By educating his players about the power and pitfalls of social media, he is not only protecting their brand image but also preparing them for life beyond the football field.
