The Marcus Stokes N-word controversy issue has taken a new turn. After his Florida dreams ended because of a questionable rap video, the 4-star college football recruit has landed himself opportunities from elsewhere. Namely, another HBCU program in the second division.

Stokes’ path to the University of Florida hit a major impasse when the Instagram video of the QB rapping the N-word went viral. This led to other SEC Power Five teams also backing out from signing Stokes. However, Albany State has come to Marcus’ rescue in a time of need. And they could use Stokes’ skill set.

Marcus Stokes released an apology to the football world

Stokes’ rapping got a lot of mixed reactions from the footballing community. “Welcome back *****,” the QB rapped on Instagram. Some thought that the word in the context of a song doesn’t deserve the severe punishment meted out. However, there were many who thought that the Florida Gators had made the right call to rescind his contract.

Stokes publicly apologized for using the word in the rap song. “I deeply apologize for the words in the song that I chose to say. I fully accept the consequences of my actions and I respect the University of Florida’s decision to withdraw my scholarship offer to play football,” part of Marcus’s ap ology statement said in a now-deleted tweet.

At 6 foot and one-and-a-half inches, Marcus Stokes is presently the 24th-best quarterback in the country for the 2023 class, the 212th-ranked player in the Nation, and the 48th-best coming out of Florida.

Albany State could use the services of Marcus because of some old connections

Marcus Stokes tweeted on January 25, about the Albany Golden Rams program in Georgia. “Blessed to receive my first HBCU offer to play at Albany State University,” Stokes said on his social media. Also, the QB tagged former Jacksonville Jaguars player and Albany head coach, Quinn Gray.

Gray was the offensive analyst at Memphis and was crucial in the initial recruitment of Marcus Stokes before the controversies rained on the Nease High School quarterback. Stokes had a 55% pass completion rate along with 1867 passing yards, 13 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions in his senior year.

Albany State isn’t the only one interested in acquiring the talented Stokes.

West Florida also reached out to Marcus, and the QB has even completed his visit with UWF. After the Golden Rams offer, Stokes also got a call from the Alabama A&M HBCU program as well, according to Marcus’s Twitter account. The NCAA will certainly heat up next season with Marcus entering the ring. Colorado HC Deion Sanders has already made College Football just as popular as the NFL with his arrival in Denver, and fans can expect even more now.
