“13-0 Record”: Wife Terry Salutes Nick Saban for Saving Alabama Football After 2011 Tornado & COVID-19

Nick Saban, renowned for his unparalleled success in college football, has announced the end of his coaching reign. With an unprecedented seven national championships and nine SEC titles under his belt, Saban’s tenure at Alabama solidified his status as one of the greatest coaches in the sport’s history. The claim to fame was not a bed of roses for Saban. He had numerous challenges hurled his way on his journey to the top, which included natural disasters and global pandemics. 

Saban’s wife, Terry recently addressed Nick’s journey and outstanding capability of scaling obstacles in her letter to the Alabama football fans, following Nick Saban’s retirement. The letter written by her in her own words is to be inducted into The Tuscaloosa News’ special edition honoring Nick Saban’s remarkable 17-year tenure as the head coach of Alabama football.

In her letter to the football fans, Terry addressed numerous aspects of Saban’s football journey at Alabama and touched upon the hardships that the team had to overcome together as one. She spoke about the devastating aftermath of the 2011 tornado that ripped through Alabama, which, “shook every player, student and resident to the core.’ Yet the team lost no time to help those in need. “Nick’s Kids Foundation was also able to build several Habitat for Humanity homes for those who lost everything,” she continued before applauding her husband for his ability to perform brilliantly even during the pandemic years, “but in 2020, we finished with a perfect 13-0 record and another national championship.

She concluded with the mention that the outstanding work done by Nick’s Kids Foundation extends far beyond championships, with legacies that resonate deeply. From establishing playgrounds and habitat homes to engaging in juvenile detention center programs and donating over $12 million to support children’s programs, the foundation has made a significant impact. Additionally, the Saban Center, a collaborative effort with the City of Tuscaloosa and community members, stands as a testament to their commitment to education and community development. While Coach Saban’s on-field achievements are widely celebrated, Terry’s impact off the field is equally significant. She has been instrumental in fostering community engagement in Tuscaloosa, championing educational initiatives, and supporting her husband in various capacities, including recruitment efforts. Her letter applauds her husband’s tedious efforts to uplift the football programme and alludes to the Alabams’s historic pandemic championship win helmed by Saban which has earned his name alongside the greatest coaches of all time.

Head coach Nick Saban lauded his team’s exceptional unity and perseverance, highlighting their ability to overcome adversity.
