Ahead of the CFP National Championship set to take place on 9th January 2024, there’s an interesting bit of news for trivia fans. For those who love hearing and widening their football knowledge, there’s another fact. As Washington Huskies get ready to clash against the Michigan Wolverines, there’s a unique father-son connection.

Michael Penix Jr. who plays as a quarterback for the Huskies got his skills from his father. Michael Penix Sr. was a natural at the sport and was the first coach of his son. The stunning agility and gameplay are traits passed on to Micheal Penix Jr. by none other than his father.  Now the question begs though was he actually an NFL player?

The NCAA world is privy to the prodigy, i.e. Michael Penix Jr. The 23-year-old quarterback player is headlining the starting quarterback position for the Washington Huskies. He’ll probably play the biggest game of his career in the CFP National Championship on 9th January. The young prodigy got his skills from his father. Michael Penix Sr. was himself a football athlete and played at the running back position.

Penix Jr. seems to be a refined version of his father. Talking about the Sr. Penix, he represented Pasco High School and was a gifted player. He then went to play for Tennessee Tech in the nineties. Penix Sr. was a force to reckon with in his playing days and made several records of his own. He made the most single-game rushing yards (261) and longest play from scrimmage (94 yards) in program history for the Golden Eagles. While he never went to the NFL, he continued with the sport as a coach for Pasco High School in Dade City, Florida. Now, he’d be looking forward to his son fulfilling the legacy by playing in the NFL with a convincing performance in the finals.

A closer look at Michael Penix Jr.’s career

Michael Penix Jr. is living the dream! He’s been on a rampage all throughout the season. It’s been a breakout season for the young quarterback. Following in his father’s footsteps, he took the sport and is now making waves of his own. He also featured on the second list of the Heisman Trophy voting and entered a list of greats to have never won the trophy.
