“A Lot of Quarterbacks Can’t Make This Play”: Peyton Manning Explains How This AFC Quarterback Is the Next Big Thing

Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning was recently amazed by the prowess of the Los Angeles Chargers QB Justin Herbert. A former Super Bowl-winning QB, Manning was sharing his breakdown of one of the top plays made by Herbert against the Philadelphia Eagles. It was an extraordinary play from the 2020 Offensive Rookie of The Year award winner and a display of his elite talent on film.

The clip was in a post on the official Instagram handle of the Los Angeles Chargers organization. The near 1-minute clip did have a moment-by-moment commentary by one of the top players from the QB position. The former Broncos star, while talking about the Chargers QB states, “Not everybody can run this play but a lot of quarterbacks can’t make this throw. But Justin can. This throw is not for everybody folks. Don’t try this throw at home…

Manning, while giving credit to Herbert for the throw, gives Chargers WR Mike Williams some spotlight. He recognizes his tireless running to complete the play for his quarterback. Manning notes that Herbert fools the Eagles’ pass rushers by continuing to move to the right.

The former Broncos QB points out how impressive Herbert was for suddenly stopping and throwing the opposite way for a 55-yard completion. He also rewinds the playback to show Herbert and his calmness under pressure from a defensive lineman. It is a clip that perfectly encapsulates Herbert’s genius maneuver and arm strength for every NFL fan.

The 6th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, Justin Herbert has been a revelation for the franchise since joining them. He did emerge as a superstar quarterback while setting the NFL record for most touchdown passes thrown by a rookie.

He did end up recording 5,014 passing yards and 38 touchdowns and ranking near the top of the NFL in all the essential QB categories. Despite missing the postseason, the Chargers fans and Herbert will be upbeat and in high spirits ahead of the 2022 NFL campaign.
