This Sunday Night football broke some records and many hearts. This concluding season of Aaron Rodgers with the Green Bay Packers was supposed to be a special one. Yet a humiliating 38-3 defeat against the New Orleans Saints, embarrassed the Packers in front of the fans who saw them play at the NFC championship game last season and the season before.
A night Green Bay Packers would never forget
Last night’s game saw a big drop off in the stats of Aaron Rodgers. He never saw a loss with a margin as big as 35 points in his whole career. His 36.8 passer rating was the lowest since Week 15 of 2014.

However, Rodgers believes it to be a much needed kick for the team. The head coach of the Packers, Matt LaFleur, holds a completely different view. He sees it as a great downfall in the performance of the team.

The Packers, at one point of the game, seemed to have submitted to the Saints for the devastation they had caused. This has occurred for the first time in NFL history, that a team that has played in the previous year’s AFC or NFC championship game, succumbed to a 35 point loss in the season starter.

“We didn’t run the ball; we didn’t even attempt to run the ball enough,” the head coach of the Packers, LaFleur said. “So that’s my fault.” The game was obviously dominated by the Saints as they came well prepared for it. The Packers on the other end found it difficult to carry the ball. The only time they managed to score the three points was in the second quarter.
LaFleur feels deeply embarrassed by the loss that they faced. As he has high hopes from the franchise, especially in the 2021 season. This season’s lineup has the potential to claim the Lombardy Trophy, yet he faced a devastating threat to his hopes in the very first game of the season.
