Chiefs Star QB Patrick Mahomes Becomes a Hall of Famer and Gets Inducted to the Ring of Honor in Massive Ceremony by Texas Tech

Super Bowl winner and Kansas City Chiefs’ star man Patrick Mahomes has added another feather to his cap. Mahomes became only the eighth member of Texas Tech’s Ring of Honor. Although he is a few years too young to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, the student-athletes at Texas Tech used a bye-law to bypass the age issue and voted Mahomes in.
In the 3 years he spent playing for his alma mater, he managed to complete 859 passes for 11,252 yards and 93 touchdowns in just 29 games. But more than his college career, his professional career is what played the part in his induction. He is a Super Bowl winner, and a Super Bowl and NFL Regular Season MVP. He is, by far, the most successful of any Texas Tech Alumni, ever. And that is exactly what Texas Tech Athletic Director Kirby Hocutt talked about during the ceremony.

“When you look at the face of the NFL, that is Patrick Mahomes,” Hocutt said. “Patrick’s accomplishments at Texas Tech are well documented with his success as one of the top quarterbacks in college football history. Patrick is an NFL MVP and a Super Bowl champion, but he’s, most importantly, a Red Raider, who remains an avid supporter of our great university.”

The Kansas City Chiefs are going into their bye-week with a 5-2 opening record, which they can be absolutely happy with. Their only losses came against an equally matched Buffalo Bills, and a surprise loss to the Indianapolis Colts. But with the performance the Chiefs, and Mahomes in particular, have put on display, they are already establishing themselves as Championship contenders.
Mahomes has put in some mesmerizing plays this season, including his alley-oop-esque touchdown pass against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Not to forget, the Chiefs have become the masters of disguised plays, and of scoring with motion plays. This season alone, Mahomes has completed 176 passes for 2,159 yards and 20 touchdowns.

The Chiefs are set to face the Tennessee Titans, fresh from their rest week. But they will not be expecting an easy game. The Titans have only lost 2 games, with a proper 41-7 demolition at the hands of the Bills. The other loss was a close 20-21 game with the New York Giants. Although everyone expects the Chiefs to win, the game could end up being not a high-scoring one.
