The NFC East franchise Dallas Cowboys started the 2020 NFL season as outside contenders to make the Super Bowl. They boasted of a strong quarterback in the form of Dak Prescott, along with a strong wide receiving corps featuring the likes of Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup, and rookie CeeDee Lamb. However, it’s safe to say that things did not go as per plan.
The Cowboys ended the season on a poor note finishing 3rd in their division above rivals, Philadelphia Eagles. Their season was hampered after star quarterback Dak Prescott suffered a season-ending compound fracture in Week 5.

Both parties failed to come to an agreement. In the 4 complete games that Prescott played in 2020, he threw for 422.5 yards per game and the Cowboys scored 31.5 points per game. He was well on track to shatter Peyton Manning’s single-season passing yards record (5,477).
After his injury last year, his contract situation got more complicated. The Cowboys have until 4 p.m. ET on July 15th to tie Prescott down to a long-term deal. If they fail to do so, he will have to play on a franchise tag for yet another season.
