Quarterback Kyler Murray has proved to be a worthwhile acquisition for the Arizona Cardinals. Drafted in 2019, Murray grew into a more mature player with his decision-making abilities in the recently concluded 2020 season.
This, however, does not mean that the player has forgotten about his love for the game of baseball. Baseball has always been close to Murray’s heart. It’s the sport he loved and played through college.
And it wasn’t something that he was bad at either. Kyler Murray was one of the hottest prospects in the 2018 MLB Draft. In fact, he was so good that 9-time World Series champions, the Oakland A’s, had picked him as the 9th overall pick in that Draft.

Kyler Murray and his Oakland A’s hat did not go unnoticed
The Cardinals QB was seen at the Phoenix Suns vs. Golden State Warriors game on Thursday night. But what was significant about his appearance was the cap that he was sporting.
Murray was seen donning an Oakland Athletics hat at the venue. The same A’s that he turned down to play football for.

Murray was torn between which sport to play professionally following college. A gifted athlete, Murray was good enough to play in either the MLB or the NFL.
This meant that Murray had to make a decision regarding the sport he wanted to play. And ultimately, Murray choose to be a quarterback in the NFL. Murray though has previously said that he wishes to play both sports at some time in his career.
The Michael Jordan way
A move to the MLB could see him potentially following in the footsteps of NBA great Michael Jordan. The ex-Chicago Bulls player had switched from basketball to baseball to honor his father’s wish of seeing him try out in the MLB.

While Jordan’s performances weren’t quite as jaw-dropping as his performance for the Bulls, there’s reason to believe that Kyler Murray’s impact on the sport could be different.
Still young and relatively not that detached from baseball, Murray, a former MLB prospect, could have a much bigger impact on the league.
