“Coach Prime,” aka Deion Sanders, hopped on board with the Colorado Buffaloes as head honcho in 2023. Since then, the team’s seen a parade of big shots gracing their turf. Post-Sanders’ arrival, the Buffs just wrapped a full-throttle Fall Camp, sparking renewed hope as they gear up to tackle TCU in the opener.
However, it should be noted that some skeptics yakked about these celeb cameos not cutting the mustard. That’s when the legendary Dallas Cowboys Michael Irvin swooped in with his Texas-sized mojo. This week, Irvin, aged 57 and Hall of Fame certified, strolled into Boulder to eyeball the Buffaloes. His message? Stick it to the naysayers.

Believe in Buffs
Following Sanders’ touchdown in Colorado, heaps of ex-Buffs like Kordell Stewart, Daniel Graham, David Bakhtiari, and Mason Crosby hit up Franklin Field before the spring showdown in April. Not to be outdone, this August brought a superstar scrimmage guest: the one and only Hall of Famer, Terrell Owens.
But this week, Michael Irvin arrived and worked his magic for the Buffs. Because, back in the day, Irvin and Sanders tag-teamed in the NFL as Dallas Cowboys, snagging a Super Bowl win in ’95-’96. Irvin pumped up the squad, rallying the players to prove everyone barking against them wrong.

Irvin questioned, “This season, you’re going to get a lot of eyes. You think you want these eyes? You think you’re ready for these eyes?” then reminded them, “Because these eyes that are looking on you, guys, they’re looking to see the first mistake, the first bad anything. That’s why you’ve got to play together.”
“Nobody’s looking at you like, ‘Oh, we want to see them do great.’ They’re looking to say, ‘We want to see them fail.’ Make sure they don’t get what they want.”
Irvin fired them up for the spotlight, warning that those peepers would be out for slip-ups, not success. Irvin rallied unity, motivating them to tackle challenges for greatness. Signing off with a battle cry to astonish, the Buffs, seen as underdogs in 2023, await Coach Prime’s team magic return to defy the odds.
The Colorado Buffaloes have scored big in the 2023 class
Buffs have snagged a duo of five-star recruits. First up is high school standout cornerback Cormani McClain, a top-tier signee who’s ready to make his mark. Then there’s cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter, a transfer who’s joining the ranks. What’s intriguing is that Shedeur Sanders’ father, Deion brought him along, to power the QB1 spot.
