As part of the 2022 NFL International Series debut, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers played against the Seattle Seahawks in Munich, Germany. The Tom Brady-led Bucs vanquished the Seahawks with a final score of 21-16. The NFL fans of Munich welcomed the teams with an enthusiastic amount of support and love.

At the end of the game, 75,000 fans across the stadium were singing at the top of their voices. The Munich fans were singing John Denver’s classic ‘Country Roads, Take me Home,’ and serenading the winning teams. The international fans of the league showcased their love for the game.

NFL fans explode over the Munich game

Fans in the US took to social media, reacting to how Munich received the game. There were outbursts on both Twitter and Instagram, applauding the support Munich fans gave both the playing teams.

The fan reactions came after Brady took to social media and showcased Munich’s positive attitude towards the NFL. A fan took to Twitter to excitedly reacting to the singing:

A dedicated fan had even traveled to witness Brady and the game, and it’s safe to say he wasn’t disappointed.

Fan on Instagram also showed their appreciation toward the German fans. One American NFL fan wrote, “German crowd was UNREAL and could teach us Americans a thing or two… loudly and proudly sang their national anthem, sang throughout the game, stayed AFTER the game.” A special day for this fan, “It was a pleasure to see you play in this arena. Munich will always remember this day.” This fan wanted to experience the atmosphere firsthand, “Huge win! That was one of the most entertaining games I’ve watched this season! Props to the German fans! The atmosphere was electric! I wish I was there!”

Tom Brady in Germany

Tom Brady and his Tampa Bay was the first team, along with the Seahawks, to play an NFL game in Germany. The Bucs won against the Seahawks, bringing their record in the 2022 regular season to 5 wins and 5 losses. While they have lost 5 games, the win in Germany puts them on the top of the NFC South table.

The whole event in Germany made for one of the NFL’s most wholesome moments. The display by the German fans reiterated that the NFL fanbase is truly growing and expanding. With the presence of players like Tom Brady and the excitement of NFL games, one must truly question how rapidly the fanbase of the NFL is growing internationally.
